1 At Little Zak’s Academy North Strathfield, we have been very busy engaging in many sensory and science experiments. The children all enjoy being actively involved and using their cognitive skills to explore with the science experiments. The children have been using their fine motor skills as they manipulate the ice, sand and water. The educators have also been actively involved and this causes much excitement with the children as they are very keen to show their educators what they have discovered.

2 This science experiment allows the children to explore different mediums to hypothesis and observe whether the objects sink or float. The children were very interested in the activity and wanted to know more. This experience promotes : Discussions about the weight of the objects The different textures Promotes cognitive thinking amongst each other Social interactions amongst their peers and educators.

3 The sand trough experience provides the children with the opportunity to explore and discover with the dinosaur figurines and the sand. During this experience the children also extend on their fine motor skills as they manipulated the sand and dinosaurs using their hands. The children also enhanced their social skills and language skills when interacting and communicating with their peers. Sensory skills are exercised when the children are feeling the different textures of the sand. The children also engaged in role playing as they pretend to be dinosaurs. The trough with ice bergs and items in it allows the children to explore science concepts of ice melting with the warm water. The children used the ink droppers to transfer the warm water onto the ice to set the frozen items free. This allows the children the opportunity to extend on their pincer grip when manipulating the ink droppers as well as visualising the ice melting. The children used their cognitive skills to explore with this science experiment and hypothesise their thoughts.
