12
Project outputs Survey Materials/docs –slide deck –promotional flyers/posters –advocacy strategies Final report –change in behaviour –Sherpa ROMEO feedback –knowledge and relationships built
13
Lessons learned Advocacy strategies largely the same Carrots (and therefore training materials) largely the same User issues largely the same –Copyright/versions –Time –Not enough carrots/sticks
14
Lessons learned Integration headache –Bleeding edge –Delays, changes in staffing –Still not holistic – further integration challenges User interface is poor (as for most ‘repositories’) –Too complicated –No feedback loop –Colours confusing, copyright/versions
15
Lessons learned Benefits In the workflow? – spontaneous deposit Avoids duplication (also populating web pages) Exploits metadata harvesting Library no longer the sole ‘business owner’ (flipside is less control)
16
Lessons learned Issues Who owns what metadata? Metadata standards variable Benefits of harvesting oversold – false expectations? Community of practice beyond the original anoraks is still limited
17
And since Bigger sticks (Finch) –More deposits Bigger headache – technical infrastructure landscape and integration requirements have grown –More harvestable sources Bigger and wider interest –More shouting
