2 Why Market Go for Green ® ? Use approved Go for Green ® materials to: – Build brand recognition – Educate service members – Respond to diners’ requests for more performance-enhancing food options – Increase sales at the dining facility

3 How Can YOU Market G4G? Go for Green ® doesn’t happen without YOU — the managers! Use approved materials only Display clean materials neatly Rotate permanent materials every 4 months Maintain a facility calendar

4 Permanent Marketing Materials Display year-round as part of the Go for Green ® education effort: – Food Cards and Beverage Cards – 3 medium-sized posters – Table signs – Brochures

9 Key Message A: “What is Go for Green ® ?” Introduce new G4G logo and Food Cards Goal: Service members should recognize and understand G4G labels: – Green, Yellow, and Red – Low-, Moderate-, and High-sodium

10 Key Message B: “What You Eat Matters” Nutrition is fuel for mental and physical performance Choose Green-coded foods/drinks more often Goal: Service members should recognize that the type of fuel matters for performance

11 Key Message C: “Eat Outside the Box” Goal #1: Urge service members to try new foods Goal #2: Encourage service members to choose more fresh/homemade foods over packaged/processed foods

14 YOU Can Market G4G Smile and use a friendly tone Ask diners to try the high-performance meal of the day: – “Good afternoon, would you like to try today’s special?” Offer Green-coded options first: – “Good afternoon, would you like broccoli with your meal?” When suggesting Green-coded foods, try these phrases: – “This is a good recipe.” – “One of the favorites here!” – “Lots of people like this.”

It’s everyone’s role to help market G4G daily Visit the G4G website often and stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest G4G news Display posters, table tents/signs, and brochures throughout your dining facility Use social media messaging to market G4G outside of the dining facility
