WP 210: Event search - Dipolarization Attempt for automatic identification 3 min-sliding window Plasma sheet: β ≥ 0.5, Θmax > 45° Rapid dipolarization: Vx,perp > 150 km/s, ΔΘ > 10°, ΔBz > 4nT Near center : |Bx| ≤ 5nT |Ygsm| ≤ 12 RE Applied to PP data from 2001- 2007 (D. Schmid, MS thesis)
7
WP 210: Event search - Dipolarization 107 events (2001-2007) This criteria was chosen to identify rapid & thin (non-MHD) scale dipolarization front. Need to optimize the selection criteria for ECLAT relevant science
8
WP 210: Event search - Reconnection Attempt for automatic identification Spin resolution data (PP) Strong out flow in plasma sheet: Vx > 300 km/s, beta > 2 X- line signatures (visual check so far): Contain periods with flow reversal & BzVx >0 Data from 2001-2005 (R. Rott, MS thesis)
9
WP 210: Event search - Reconnection 50 intervals Event selection depends on process time-scale of interest Large scale tail dynamics ? Thin current sheet dynamics?
