Our mission is to process contracts that: satisfy the requirements of our internal and external customers… in a timely, efficient manner… in support of the University's overall mission and goals… while maintaining the regulations set forth by the State of Arizona, the Arizona Board of Regents and the University.

Draft, review, modify, negotiate, execute, and maintain contracts for products and services that meet NAU’s needs, responsibilities, and abilities. Work with Depts and AZ agencies to ensure NAU’s needs, responsibilities, and abilities can be met. Procurement policies and thresholds Insurance and risk assessment, safety ratings ITS computing and data security requirements Intellectual property Marketing Others…

Ensure that NAU follows federal, A.R.S., ABOR, and NAU requirements Legal name and authorized signer FERPA and HIPAA (Federal) Liability & indemnification (AZ Admin Code) Dispute resolution (ABOR) Public records laws (ARS) Others… Retain and archive contracts per Arizona law *Sponsored Projects (formerly OGCS), Provost, and Facilities can also process/sign relevant contracts.

Department submits contract with CSR Form to the Contracts Unit (nau-contracts@nau.edu) We review/modify contracts If mutual agreement, both parties sign and execute Otherwise, parties negotiate based on their capabilities and requirements. Can be difficult and time consuming. Goal is a mutually agreeable contract that both parties can implement.

Executed contracts are sent to Dept and retained by Contracts Unit Dept monitors contract for term extensions or other changes Dept submits CSR and Addendum/Quote/SOW if new services/products are added to existing contract If necessary, Contracts Unit cancels contract per cancellation requirements and signature authority

Proper contracts are critical and integral to the lawful and cost-effective operations of NAU and its Departments. The Contracts Unit: Provides a method and a service to secure products and services according to NAU’s operating processes and capabilities Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and policies Helps define and uphold the integrity of NAU to our vendors, State agencies, and ourselves
