3 Centennial Series Lesson Plans Overview Project Purpose: Develop a set of lesson plans/curriculum around the Centennial Conversation Series for teachers to use in their classrooms Fits any number of courses: US History, Government, Geography, Economics, etc. Focusing on secondary classrooms (7-12) Rigorous, standards-based lesson plans

4 Interview Participants included: Former Vice President Dan Quayle Senator Dennis DeConcini Congressman Jeff Flake Congressman John Shadegg Governor and former Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano Senator John McCain Senator Jon Kyl Governor Rose Mofford Congressman Ed Pastor

5 What’s in it for you? $500 stipend for each lesson plan 10 lesson plans chosen Your lesson plan will be included in the Centennial Conversation Series curriculum You will be credited as an author Blind selection process

6 Process Information Session: November DVD of interviews mailed: November Submissions due to ACHE: February 29, 2016 Finalists notified: by March 15, 2016 Finalists editing/revisions due: March 31, 2016

7 Requirements Must include information required by template Must address Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards for Literacy/Social Studies AND/OR Arizona Social Studies Standards The conversation/interview must be used as a primary source for the lesson plan, and help frame the topic of the lesson plan
