7. Fallopian Tube Passageways for eggs as they travel from the ovary to the uterus. The place where fertilization takes place. Each month, one of the ovaries release a mature egg, which enters the nearest fallopian tube.

8. Uterus A hollow muscular organ about the size of a pear. If an egg is fertilized, it becomes attached to the wall of the uterus. The cervix is the lower portion of the uterus and is a common site of cancer in women.

9. Vagina A muscular passageway leading to the outside of the body. The vagina or birth canal, is the passageway through which a baby leaves the mothers body.

10. Ovulation The process in which an egg is released from the ovaries is called ovulation. Once it is released, it can be fertilized for the next few days if sperm are present.

11. Menstruation When an egg is not fertilized it starts to break down along with the lining of the uterus. When the extra blood and tissue of the thickened lining pass out of the body through the vagina it is called menstruation. On average, menstruation last about four to six days.

12. Menstrual Cycle The monthly cycle of changes that occur in the female reproductive system.
