9 Why do we want to be credible, anyway? Turn to the person closest to you. Come up with a reason why it might be important to establish credibility within a speech. Share with the class!

10 Reason to Listen Why should I care about your speech, anyway? How can this speech benefit me? Relate speech to the audience.

11 Creating a purpose statement Inform/Persuade/Entertain Simple, declarative statement of intent. What do you plan to have the speech do? Similar to an essay’s thesis…
