“The Days Are Evil” Ephesians 5:15-16

The Days Are Evil Noah’s time (Gen. 6:5-12) – Wicked actions: violence, constant intent to sin – Wicked attitude: eating, drinking, marrying (Matt. 24:38) – Righteous actions: preaching, obeying (II Peter 2:5; Gen. 6:22; 7:5) – Righteous attitude: reverent fear (Heb. 11:7) – Just because the days were evil didn’t mean Noah had to participate in it

The Days Are Evil Noah’s time – Sinners destroyed; Noah lived (I John 2:15-17) Sinners had no treasures in heaven; Noah did Sinners had no relationship with God; Noah did – Noah believed the unseen (Heb. 11:7) – God knows how to punish the wicked and deliver the righteous (II Peter 2:5, 9)

The Days Are Evil Noah lived in evil days, but he made the best use of the time – Preaching and obeying with reverent fear in his heart – Staying away from the world’s sins – Maintaining his relationship with God, which abides forever – Believing God when no one else did Walking wisely is walking with God, like Noah

The Days Are Evil Our time (II Tim. 3:1-5) – Wickedness will increase (II Tim. 2:12-13) – Righteous must continue (II Tim. 2:14) – Just because the days are evil doesn’t mean we must participate in the evil The world is surprised (I Peter 4:4) We’re going to stand out like Noah

The Days Are Evil Our time – One day, this world will be destroyed completely Like Noah, will we abide forever with God? Like the wicked, will we lose everything we love? – We must live by faith (Heb. 11:6; II Cor. 5:7) – God still knows how to deliver the righteous (II Cor. 5:1; II Peter 2:9)

The Days Are Evil The days are evil (John 3:16-21) Lovers of self, lovers of pleasure, inventors of evil (II Tim. 3:1-5; Rom. 1:29-32) We have to stand out as lights (Philip. 2:12-16; Matt. 5:13-16) We have to keep preaching and obeying, with reverent fear Are you making the best use of the time? (Eph. 5:15-16)

The Days Are Evil “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16
