6 Explain the use of technology in WWI The submarine was the most awesome new weapon of all time. The tank may possibly be the most horrifying weapon of WWI. First introduced during World War I, gas warfare created a sense of fear, caused many casualties, and led to the invention of the gas mask.

10 Compare and contrast two battles that occurred during WWI Between 1914 and 1917, each battle played a part in extending the duration of World War I. Yet despite the difference in the previous experiences of the soldiers, the First Battle of the Marne and the Battle of Verdun demonstrated that both the Allied Powers and the Central Powers refused to retreat, and that each side accepted high casualty rates in an effort to win the War.
