History The Baton Rouge, Louisiana SBR/NBR facility was built and brought online by the US Government during WWII to supply synthetic rubber for the war effort. For more than 70 years East West Copolymer’s Baton Rouge facility has been an integral player in synthetic rubber manufacturing. East West Copolymer was formed in 2014 as the investment platform to purchase the Lion Copolymer SBR/NBR business. This group is comprised and led by Greg Nelson, the former Lion CEO & President, Dean Willard & Alto Cheung, both former business partners, and the East West Copolymer Management team. Community 3 Proprietary and Confidential East West Copolymer employs roughly 160 company and contract personnel to operate their facility in Louisiana. East West Copolymer is a member of Baton Rouge Area Mutual Aid (BRAMA) Active/management members of International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers (IISRP) A member of the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance (LCIA) & Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) Participates in “Adopt a School” programs with local schools. Participates and supports several charities, most notably are ones that directly affect our associates and surrounding community.

Operations 6 Proprietary and Confidential Plant Information: Operations began in 1943 with a hot emulsion polymerization process. The site was built and owned by the United States government, but run by a consortium of seven tire manufacturers. In 1948 the site retooled its process and developed the first cold emulsion polymerization plant in North America. In 1965 Copolymer started production of NBR The Baton Rouge Plant is a continuous process facility The production units operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year utilizing a12 hour shift schedule. The site produces Synthetic Rubber comprised of SBR and NBR grades. The site is ISO 9001 certified The site also houses East West Copolymer’s Corporate Headquarters and R&D facilities.
