1 Employment Certification Program Instructors (evening workshops) Britt Cotter recently retired from his position as International Human Resources Manager at Marathon Oil Company. He started his career as an HR generalist in Marathon’s Findlay, Ohio headquarters, and since then has worked in a variety of HR assignments, including stops in Jakarta, Lafayette, La., Findlay for a second time, and finally back to Houston. Britt supported exploration and production, mergers and acquisitions, capital projects and corporate staff organizations. He has also spent significant time in West Africa. Britt was raised in West Virginia, and holds degrees from West Virginia University in Business Administration and in Industrial Relations. He is married and has three children. Roni Barber, PHR is Assistant Vice President and senior recruiter for Amegy Bank in Houston. She has more than 20 years experience in the Human Resource industry, with areas of expertise include recruiting, career transition, training, and employee relations. Roni has extensive experience in all phases of Human Resources, having had roles in various industries including banking, finance, transportation, manufacturing and mortgage services. A native of Austin, Texas, Roni holds an AA in Business Management from Brookhaven College and has been certified as a Professional in Human Resources since 1999 through the Society of Human Resource Management. Bill Mathias is a retired sales executive, entrepreneur and executive search professional. After a successful sales career at IBM and as a marketing manager for a Houston based petroleum industry marketing group, Bill launched a company providing IT data solutions for a litigation support system operated by a consortium of major energy companies. After selling his business, Bill worked in the executive search business with Heidrick & Struggles, Lamalie and Associates, and Preng & Associates. Originally from Southern California, Bill attended Rice University where he received a BA in Geology. Bill is a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Julie Hudson, PHR i s a Human Resource Consultant with Verizon Wireless, where she delivers a wide variety of HR-related training to management and employees. She serves as technical advisor to management on personnel policy implementation, advises employees on subjects such as disciplinary action. performance problems, and workplace accommodations, and recruits for various departments/divisions. Julie has served in human resource positions for AIG American General, for Ikon Office Solutions and for KBR/Halliburton prior to assuming her current position with Verizon Wireless. Born in Trinidad, Julie was raised in Baytown, Texas. She holds a BA in political science from the University of Houston and an MPA with a human resource concentration from Texas Southern University.

2 Bob King is Director of Employment Services at Memorial Assistance Ministries. Bob has eight years of nonprofit leadership experience built upon a foundation of over 20 years of experience in the energy corporate finance business. He has served on nonprofit boards, led agencies as Executive Director, raised millions of dollars of funding for his organizations, created and managed fundraising events, created value-added partnerships with corporations, and organized and led volunteers in both fundraising and providing client services. Bob holds BA and MBA degrees from Southern Methodist University. He and his wife have two grown sons and spend their weekends in New Braunfels, Texas, where they are members of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Elizabeth O’Neal has more than 15 years experience in the career transition industry. Her areas of expertise include career transition coaching, training, and operations management. Elizabeth has extensive experience in all phases of this business, having had roles in job development, training, administrative management, program coordination and corporate client liaison. Prior to her work in the career transition industry, Elizabeth spent 15 years in the financial services industry. She holds a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University. A native Houstonian with two grown children, Elizabeth has been a volunteer with Memorial Assistance Ministries since October 2009, assisting in Employment Services. You will also find her in the MAM Store on Saturday’s cashiering, restocking and shopping! Yolanda Bing is Employment Services Manager at Memorial Assistance Ministries, a non-profit organization that provides emergency financial assistance and other services to families and individuals in Spring Branch and other contiguous neighborhoods in Houston. In this capacity, Yolanda works with MAM’s clients to assist them in overcoming their obstacles to finding and maintaining employment. Previously, Yolanda managed an employment services program at another Houston area nonprofit organization, and also worked as a recruiter of light industrial and office employees in Illinois Originally from Mexico, Yolanda learned to speak English fluently through an ESL program while in high school in California. John McAloon recently retired from CGG - VERITAS after 29 years. John held various technical and managerial positions, including personnel development manager for the Marine (Offshore) Division. In this position John was responsible for the recruitment and training of offshore personnel worldwide. He has also recruited onshore personnel for the various departments he headed. John, is originally from Scotland and has been in the United States since 1978. He became a proud US Citizen in 1984. He lived in New Orleans, Pensacola Fl and Phoenix Az. before finally settling in Houston in 1991. He is a volunteer at MAM where he works in Employment Services. He is a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Neil Broussard is a retired chemical engineer. He worked for several companies including Dow Chemical, where he held the position of Operations and Measurement Superintendent, before starting his own company. After selling his firm, Neil joined Welker Engineering where he held several different positions including USA Sales Manager and Special Projects Manager. Neil was born in Sulphur, La. and graduated from McNeese State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He's married and has two children. Neil volunteers at Edith L Moore Audubon Sanctuary and MAM. Angela Banks-Pete is an Upstream Engineering Recruiter for Hire4Group. She has over ten years experience in surpassing quotas within sales in such industries as education and travel. Angela is a native of Houston, TX who holds two degrees from The University of Phoenix, a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Masters of Business Administration. Bill Bruckner is a semi-retired labor and employment attorney. He holds an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a Juris Doctorate degree in law.. He has been chosen as a "Texas Super Lawyer" for the last thirty years and was listed as one of Texas Best Lawyers over the same period. He is married, the father of three girls and grandfather of three children. St. Francis Episcopal Church is his home parish. He very much enjoys helping people recognize and utilize their skills. Debbie Ballard is a native New Yorker who settled in Houston after living in New Orleans for 14 years. She has her bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz and her Master in Business Administration from Tulane University. Debbie worked in the Insurance industry for twenty years; she spent ten of those years with Travelers Insurance. Debbie is married with two children and is an active member of several community organizations. Karen Kreidler has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources with her main area of expertise being compensation. She has experience in all areas of Human Resources, including recruitment and employee relations, at both Fortune 500 companies and consulting firms. Karen currently is staying home with her daughter and applies her HR expertise by volunteering at various non-profit organizations. Karen is originally from Central New York and has a Masters degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois.

Marsha Nolte recently retired from Quality Tubing, Division of NOV where she was the MIS Manager responsible for all aspects of a Microsoft Network. This included supporting over 150 workstations, 3 servers, Corporate connectivity, wireless and wired connections, Manufacturing and Accounting Software, Backoffice software. She was also responsible for Project Management and Systems Development of all Interfacing software to the Macola ERP Package. Sailing is the hobby she loves the most and her favorite quote is “What you put into something determines what you get out”. Rebecca Schmidt has 30 years of manufacturing experience, first with Eastman Kodak and more recently as a plant manager with Albemarle Corporation, a specialty chemicals company. Raised in Syracuse, NY, she has lived and worked in New York, Canada, France, Louisiana, South Carolina and Texas. A resident of Houston since 2010, she enjoys yoga, golf, tennis, reading and speaking French and Spanish. Rebecca holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. She is a volunteer at MAM, working in employment services, and also works as a volunteer tax preparer for the Neighborhood Tax Centers. Pete Sterling is retired from careers in commercial banking in New York City and Houston and minority venture capital and executive search work in Houston. He was raised in New Jersy and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, MA. followed by two years in the US Army. In 1971 he moved to Houston. Pete is married with four children and twelve grandkids. He is a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Bob Lewis is retired from his position as a sales manager with Kraft Foodservice. His early retirement allowed his family to have a expat experience living in Paris. While in Paris Bob volunteered at the American School of Paris as the school newspaper editor. During his two year stay in Paris he and his family traveled to several countries in Europe. Since returning to the US, Bob has volunteer as a Mentor at Katy ISD, worked in both employment and emergency services at MAM, served as treasurer of his HOA Board, and is acting Moderator of the Congregational Care Committee at his church. Connie McRee, SPHR is a Talent Delivery Manager for Deloitte Advisory in Houston. She has more than 15 years experience working in Human Resources, with areas of expertise include recruiting and sourcing, coaching, career counseling and deployment, performance management and development, employee relations and internal mobility. Connie has worked in the healthcare, technology, consulting, banking and energy industries in Houston. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Business Analysis (MIS). She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources through the Society of Human Resource Management.
