Thornhill School News Issue 10 Fri 25 th November CLASS3CLASS3 CLASS ONE CLASS TWO SCHOOLSCHOOL Next Week 28-2 nd Dec This Week 21-25 th Nov This week we have been very busy learning about how important it is to give and receive the right instructions. We have been cascading the instructions to make a card using the technique of quilling. Mrs Temple showed the year 4s how to do it and then they showed the year3s who will in turn show the year 2s. Tues- KS1 Gym Club Wed- Credit Union assembly Craft Afternoon 1pm Xmas Play rehearsals 3pm Thurs- KS2 Recorder Club Craft Afternoon 1pm Fri- Good Work Assembly Craft Afternoon 1pm Fri- Youth Club 3.30pm Christmas Tree We are planning to buy a real Christmas tree again this year but would like to donate it from 16 th December to a loving home. If you would like the tree please see Mrs Toman- a small donation will be required. Mon- Craft Afternoon 1pm Tues- Puppet Assembly 10.30 Craft afternoons 1pm KS1 Gym Club Xmas Play rehearsals 3pm Thurs- KS2 Recorder Club Fri- Good Work Assembly Christmas Fair 2.30 pm This week we have been perfecting our multiplication skills in the morning. Moreover we have looked at character motivation and the nature of sacrifice as part of our class novel;- Clockwork. Craft afternoons have been a real success and I hope that you will all bring your pennies to buy your children’s crafts at the Christmas fair next week. We will be having our Christmas Fair on 2nd December at 2.30pm. We are looking for donations of bric-a-brac, toys and books to sell, please bring them into school. Moreover donations for raffle prizes and cakes would be appreciated. We have continued our work on instructions this week and have ordered and followed sets of instructions. The Year 1s have also written instructions for making a paper puppet. On Friday they worked in pairs with the Reception children and followed their instructions. The puppets turned out well which told us that the instructions were accurate. Industrial action- 30 th November School will be open as normal on Wednesday 30 th November. Staff have signed a petition against changes to their pensions instead of going on strike. If you decide to keep your child at home on that day it will count as an unauthorised absence. Thornhill Nursery are holding a prize bingo on Sunday 11 th December in Thornhill Social Club 2-4pm. Admission a £1 which includes a drink and a cake in the interval Please do not bring any more than basic stationary equipment to school as things are going missing in Key Stage Two.
