Catalytic Converters from Power Plants Boiler Catalytic Converter Housing Stack Catalytic Converter Housing (SCR Reactor) of a Power Plant 6 feet 1 Power Plant Catalytic Converter so called “Catalyst” Module 1 Catalyst Log 4 feet For example a coal fired power plant the size of the Duke Energy’s Cliffside plant (approx. 800 MW) has approximately 500 catalysts distributed across three to four layers.

STEAG SCR-Tech’s Facility The cleaning process consists of proprietary technology that includes different steps from dry to wet cleaning, and heat treatment. Dry Cleaning Catalytic converters are exposed to hot flue gas, but also combustion residue (i.e. fly ash). One converter can contain up to 3,000 pounds of ash. Wet Cleaning Heat Treatment Restoration of mechanical strength in the catalytic converter after wet cleaning. Operating temperature of ovens is at 800 o F. Multiple wet cleaning steps are customized based on the cleaning requirements of the catalytic converter.
