Extensive Reading How Can You Say “Sorry” and Really Mean It? Admit you are were wrong Acknowledge the damage done Accept the consequences Ask for forgiveness Change behavior
15
Read and Judge Are the following statements true or false according to the passage? Write T / F accordingly. P.42 1) Many people think just saying “I'm sorry” is enough for an apology. 2) People need to take a few important steps to make a truly heartfelt apology effective. 3) The first and most important step is to admit that you have done everything wrong. 4) To say you are sorry and admit wrongdoing may make the injured party believe you. 5) The second important step is to accept complete responsibility for what both parties did. 6) You should be specific when you acknowledge the injury you have caused the other person(s).
16
Read and Judge 7) Share your part of responsibility with the other party to make it fair. 8) Don't try to look for the other persons' faults in the problem. 9) Forgetting doesn't mean forgiveness. That is something that few people can truly do. 10) Forgiveness means giving up the right to hurt back or hold it over others. 11) Only when words are given with action could they be meaningful. 12) Once trust is broken between people, it could never get repaired.
