They brought the Victory for us and they are living in our hearts in the names of our streets, parks squares and we can say to those who fell for our country, who sleep at the grave carved on the gravestone “Your deed is immortal”. The Great Patriotic War ended in May, 1945. That spring day of May 9 went down in the history of our country as Victory Day. It is celebrated by meetings of the veterans who fought in the Great Patriotic War. But Victory Day is not only a day to remember those who did not come back from the war. It is a day to be proud of all progressive people who took an active part in winning the victory over the fascists. At the same time, on Victory Day we not only remember the past. We must think about the future and defend peace. In addition, besides the celebration of the Victory Day on May 9, due to formation of the Armed Forces of the independent Kazakhstan on May 7, 1992, the nation celebrates this day as the Defenders of the Fatherland Day.
