4 MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the LDS Regional Scout Camp is to: n Promote the Mission of the Church n Support the Purposes of the Aaronic Priesthood n Provide a BSA summer camp with LDS standards fully integrated n Provide a superior Scouting experience in terms of the quality and quantity of merit badges taught We want our young men to develop their testimonies, character, and skills; form friendships with other young men having similar beliefs and standards; and develop bonds with their Priesthood and Scouting leaders.

5 Camp Overview: Costs n Date: June 27th through July 2nd, 2016 n Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation, Stanhope, NJ n Costs (Amounts shown are the Early Bird registration fee if registered online by midnight, Saturday, April 30 th, and fees paid or postmarked by Monday, May 2 nd. After May 2, the regular fee of $285 per Scout applies. Remittance for Leaders must be made by May 2 to receive the $10 early registration discount. ♦Scouts ► Scouts = $265 (early registration fee) ► Eagle Corps = $160 (early registration fee) ♦Adults ► Merit Badge Counselors= $50 (early registration fee) ► Additional leaders = $140 (early registration fee) ► Adult daily fee = $35 ♦No Refunds after May 15, 2016

6 Camp Theme - Program n Theme: “Press Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ n From the 2016 Mutual theme: ♦ 2 Nephi 31:20 n Scoutmaster minutes ♦ Stories of people, Scriptures and events associated with our pioneering heritage and BSA affiliation.

7 Proposed High-Level Schedule for the Camp Monday: Arrival, Troop Roster Check-in, Medical Check-in Swim checks for Troops at assigned times at the waterfront. Mandatory safety training for ALL scouts taking shooting sports merit badges. Set up campsites, gateways & gadgets. Merit badge instruction begins immediately after lunch. Monday to Friday: Camp Scouting activities – merit badge program: Evening activities: Monday – Opening Campfire Tuesday - Shooting Sports Competition Wednesday – Camp-wide Skit Night Thursday - Stake President’s Night Friday - Awards and Final Campfire. Saturday: Camp cleanup, checkout, and travel home.

8 Helaman Award Three levels of Award: Silver, Gold and Bronze. The troop is awarded points based on criteria in the following areas: n Scout spirit n Campsite inspection n Uniform inspection n Punctuality to Flag Ceremonies Morning and Evening n Camp chores, dining hall cleanup n Merit badges and accomplishments, including Polar Bear Swim, Mile Swim, BSA Scuba, and others n The highest overall point scorer receives a prize for each scout in the troop, plus is the first troop to receive inspection and leave camp.

9 Scoutmaster’s Checklist We recommend you get a three ring binder to organize all camp paperwork. The folder should contain the following: n Local TOUR PLAN from your BSA Council. Must be presented at Monday morning check-in or go home! n Copies of the MEDICAL FORMS for all Adults and Scouts (good for one year) n Parental authorization/permission slips n Copies of the YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING for ALL ADULTS (good for two years) and if your council requires it, Risk Zone training. Enter YPT completion date on each adult registration page. n Copies of any CPR and First Aid certifications n A copy of the registration details for your troop – adults and Scouts from LDS Camp website. n Print and file Scout’s Merit Badge Schedules: Counsel each Scout individually regarding prerequisites and the like. Review the Leaders Pre-camp Checklist in the Leader’s Guide

11 Online Registration n Click Add personnel n A camper who attended ANY TIME in the past with ANY UNIT can be imported

12 Online Registration Add a Returning Camper n Past campers from your unit will be shown. n If the camper doesn't appear in the list, select "Import a camper from a different unit"

13 Online Registration Import a camper from a different unit n If importing from a different unit, you must supply the camper's full name and date of birth.

14 Online Registration New or Returning Camper Registration Form n Fill out the form completely. If importing a returning camper, most of the information will already be filled in. n Include email address to subscribe to the mailing list. Only essential information will be emailed, never spam.

15 Online Registration Eagle Corps Nomination n Life and Eagle Scouts may be eligible for the Eagle Corps Leadership Program. n Under Rank, select "Life" or "Eagle". n Click "Register and Nominate for Eagle Corps".

16 Registration/Check-In at Camp Monday, June 27th n Troops will check in at the dining hall at assigned time n Review and adjust Troop Roster for Scouts and leaders n Reconcile fees based upon changes n Present Troop Tour and Activity Plan/Medical Check-in: Medical forms for all adults and youth should be hand carried to camp. n Swim checks at time assigned by Aquatics Staff. Be punctual. No swim checks after lunch n Campsite set up

17 Beaver Day- Adult Service Day n Service to Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation is part of the contract to qualify for the price break which LDS Troops receive. n Saturday, ????? n Service hours from ?????? n Need about 50 individuals (adults and older youth), approximately 15 from each nearby stake n Chores could be anything that needs to be done n June ?? is our troop campsite specific service day. Cut grass around the campsites to reduce the tick problem. Check all campsites to ensure enough tents and cots are provided at each campsite, etc. n If you are aware of something at camp that needs attention, such as better water drainage, let us know and we can request that we focus our activities on those areas

18 Medical Forms n Use the National BSA medical form (2014 printing) ► Download the medical form from the camp website, www.ldscamp.org. Separate instructions are available on the website. n Your medical exam must have been done within the last year. ► Physical must have been completed after July 3, 2015. n Be sure the entire form is filled out and make sure a licensed health- care practitioner and parent sign the form. n Immunizations need to be listed. n Scoutmasters: Check each medical form completely!! Keep the original in your binder and make a copy to turn into the camp. n Notify the camp director, prior to camp, of Scouts with special needs.

19 Merit Badge Update n Courtney Hansen Program Director ► Status on merit badge program ► Additional merit badge counselor needs ► “All Call”for the names of individuals holding current BSA professional certifications. Shooting Sports, National Camping School, Red Cross certifications, Registered Nurse and other medical certifications. ► This year we are requiring 1 merit badge counselor for 8 scouts from your troop
