Data Warehouse Automation Performance Management Automation

Challenges Increasing demand for reports. Increasing queries against our MES system. Data collection from multiple sources. Same report showing different results. Time to market. Merger with Dujardin Foods.

Solution Single common data model Governed data discovery Integrate data from multiple source systems Improved data quality Data history Independent security model Data Warehouse Why?

Development Options Traditional Data Warehouse –D–Developer skills. Combined solutions –V–Vendor specific developer skills. Data Warehouse Automation –D–Data knowledge External resources Internal skills needed Time to Market Investment Evaluation criteria

Data Warehouse Automation DW Challenges Henry Ford - Automated Manufacturing TimeXtender – Automates Data Warehousing Data Warehouse Automation (DWA) uses technology to gain efficiencies and improve effectiveness in data warehousing processes Not agile High costs Lack of documentation Developer lock-in Optimization Dev / Production DW Automation Warehouse Data Model Source data exploration ETL generation Test automation Scheduling Change impact analysis Managed deployment

Proof of Concept Prerequisites –SQL Server –Access to data source Installed TimeXtender Connected to data sources –M3 and MES Build Reporting platform –Extracted data from M3 and MES –Combined the extracted data into a simplified reporting structure –Build a report in Excel Duration – 5 hours

Implementation Continued with PoC environment Expanding the PoC work with additional data Converting existing reports to DWH based reports Continuous implementation of new requirements

TX 2014 Data Warehouse Automation Ardo’s Solution Movex/M3 Operator Improve Other Data Sources Reporting Services Mobile Excel Cube Stage Data Warehouse

Timeline 26/5 Initial presentation 16/6 Proof of Concept 1/10 Training 9/10 Implementation

Benefits Simple joining of multiple sources to one report Internal resources only – low costs Fast implementation of requirements “One truth” Flexible front-end
