Jehoram Has six brothers Jehoshaphat had given them all great gifts The kingdom he gave to Jehoram Jehoram established his kingdom Jehoram killed all his brothers Jehoram was 32 when he became king Jehoram reigned 8 years in Jerusalem

Jehoram He did not follow the ways of his father Rather he walked after the kings of Israel Specifically Ahab Jehoram was married to Ahab and Jezebel’s daughter, Athaliah Jehoram did evil in the sight of the Lord God did not destroy him because of his promise to David

Prophecy of Obadiah First of the written prophets Edom—descendants of Esau Brother to Jacob (Israel) Edom had been conquered by David God is using them to punish Jehoram But, their punishment is coming as well

Prophecy of Obadiah Judgment is coming on Edom V 1 – call for nations to rise up against Edom V 2-4 – pride was her downfall; no one could bring her down; God says “I will bring you down”. V 5-9 – everything would be taken; nothing left in Edom to be found; wise men destroyed

Prophecy of Obadiah V 10-14 – reason for destruction; violence against Jacob; should not have rejoiced at Judah’s troubles; nor taken from them during calamities V 15-16 – results of judgment; “as you have done, it shall be done to you”; she would be swallowed up
