2. What is a preposition? A preposition is a word that shows the relation between a noun or pronoun and the other words in the sentence. Some common prepositions are: above across after around at before behind below beside by down except for from in into near of on to over toward through upon under up with

3. What is a prepositional phrase? A prepositional phrase is a group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. The phrase ends with a noun or pronoun called the object of the preposition. A prepositional phrase often tells where, when, how, or which one.

4. Examples The rabbit jumped over the fence. over is the preposition. Over the fence is the prepositional phrase. Fence is the object.

5. Examples Monica went shopping at the mall. At is the preposition. At the mall is the prepositional phrase. mall is the object. Where did Monica go shopping? at the mall

6. Examples We came home after the party. After is the preposition. After the party is the prepositional phrase. Party is the object. When did we come home? after the party

7. Examples The dog with the wagging tail came home. With is the preposition. With the wagging tail is the prepositional phrase. Which dog was it? with the wagging tail

8. Your turn 1.Put your name on your paper. 2.Skipping lines, number your paper from 1-10. 3.Using your foldable from yesterday, write 10 sentences using your prepositions. DO NOT IDENTIFY THE PREPOSITION IN THE SENTENCE.
