2 All foreigners have the right to receive immediate care in public health care units in Finland.

3 Invoicing depends on the country of residence and the certificates the patient can present

4 Same fees for the medical care as the permanent residents in Finland? EHIC-card (European Health Insurance Card) or a temporary replacement certificate. EHIC and replacement certificates are issued by the social security system of your home country and they are valid

5 PATIENT FEES in Central Finland Health Care District 1)Patient fees for residents of EU / EEA countries, Switzerland or countries that have an agreement with Finland (Australia, Quebec) 2)Patient fees for residents of other countries All patient fees are based on Finnish law.

6 1) Students from EU/EEA countries, Switzerland or countries that have an agreement with Finland (Australia, Quebec) Urgent and necessary medical care If you have a permanent residents and a proof that you are entitlement to the social security of your home country, you pay the same fees for their medical care as the permanent residents in Finland Permanent residents of the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland) and the UK can prove their entitlement to the social security of their home country by presenting a valid ID-card or a passport ID-card or the passport has to be issued in the same Nordic country where the person is insured -> Patients who don’t have required documents will be charged a full compensation fees for medical care

7 Non-urgent medical care – seeking medical treatment With certain prerequisites you can have a medical care in case of non-urgent care (=seeking medical treatment). To have non-urgent medical care with same fees as a person residing in Finland permanently you need an E112 form from the social security system of your home country -> without a valid E112 form, you will be charged a full compensation fee -> a passport or an EHIC-card are not sufficient documents in cases of non-urgent care.

8 2) Students from other countries than EU/EEA countries, Switzerland or countries that have an agreement with Finland A full compensation fee Persons who come to Finland from these countries should always take insurance that cover all expences due to medical care read carefully the insurance terms and conditions

9 Paying the patient fees The hospital invoice will be sent to your home address You can pay your invoices in cash to the hospital Cash Desk mon – wed 12:00-15:00 If needed, open as agreed If you don’t have the necessary documents with you, you can always send the documents afterwards (please contact and inform us)

10 Paying the patient fees If you have an insurance that covers the cost of your medical treatment, you must provide the hospital with acceptable proof If the invoice is not paid by the due date, payment collection will be transferred to a debt collection agency (Intrum Justitia) If you have difficulties to pay your fees, please contact to the customer service for payment schedule before the due date. The number is 09 2291 1955 (you can find it from the invoice). They service also in English.
