What is an –ER Verb ? An –ER verb is a ‘doing word’ that ends in –ER. Eg: acheterto buy aimerto like écouterto listen habiterto live

How do you form the present tense of –ER verbs? It is very easy! All you need to do is remember 5 easy steps...

STEP 1 Choose your –ER verb and write it down: DANSER (to dance)

STEP 2 Take off the –ER ending. You are left with THE STEM. ‘DANS’ (this is your stem)

STEP 3 Write the 9 subjects of your verb: Je Tu Il Elle On Nous Vous Ils Elles I You (informal) He She One / Someone We You (formal / group) They (masculine) They (feminine)

STEP 4 Write the stem next to your 9 subjects: Jedans Tudans Ildans Elledans Ondans Nousdans Vousdans Ilsdans Ellesdans

STEP 5 Write the present tense endings at the end of the stem. Jedanse Tudanses Ildanse Elledanse Ondanse Nousdansons Vousdansez Ilsdansent Ellesdansent
