The Procession: more than 600 people took part in the Procession in 2013, including local schools and community groups who created costumes with the help of professional artists Performances: Musicians, dancers, street performers, sound systems and a wide range of activities bring Carnival to life Community showcase: Charities and not- for-profits engage with the public and enlist their support Traders: Global food & drink, ethical retailers, local start-ups and more have stalls marketing their goods

Carnival Statistics Carnival 2013 statistics 35,000 people attended Carnival for free 600+ people took part in the Carnival procession 242 children/young people + 53 adults took part in the pre Carnival workshops 220 children plus their parents/carers took part in activities on the day 100+ acts performed in 12 venues and 5 sound systems were on the street 89 volunteers worked over 700 hours before & at the event 70 stall holders came (33 charities/community groups & 23 commercial)

6. The Impact of Carnival “This years' Cowley Road Carnival was a wonderful celebration of all that is best on the Cowley Road and East Oxford. Tens of thousands of people enjoyed a brilliant day of pure happiness with music, dance, food and entertainment. The Carnival's dream of showing the benefits of our multicultural community blossomed in a rich and vivid showcase of colour and characters. The Carnival was a statement,expressed in joy and creativity, that we are proud of our local people and the vivid energy they bring to enrich the lives of us all. It was a day to remember. A day when all that was good came onto the streets.” County Councillor David Williams, Councillor for East Oxford.

Carnival 2014 Carnival plans for 2014 include: Pre-Carnival creative workshops with schools and community groups collaboration with a wide range of arts, community, educational, disability and faith groups and businesses to encourage participation in Carnival offering employment, volunteering and skills development opportunities producing Cowley Road Carnival on Cowley Road and surrounding venues and open spaces on 6 th July 2014

8. Who Runs Carnival? Cowley Road Works, registered charity no. 1118902 A board of Trustees, all volunteers, plus one part-time Executive Team of Carnival specialist freelancers and an event management company overseeing production
