1.Open the Blackboard link on the home screen. 2.Click on Mrs. Cole’s classroom. 3.Click on the “Google Docs” tab. 4.Click on the “Similes and Metaphors” link. 5.Complete the quiz and click submit. Summary Checklist: ____ Did you remember to hit submit at end of test? ____ Did you remember to log out of Bb? 1.Login to Blackboard and enter Mrs. Cole’s class. 2. Click on Grammar/Language button. 3.Next click on Metaphor and Simile folder and watch the video all the way before completing the next step. 4.Open Microsoft word t-chart document and label each side metaphor and the other simile. 5.As you watch video again and pausing you will type the examples you find in the lyrics of similes and metaphors. You must have at least 5 each. 6.When you are finished with your lists then save it as a document naming it as homeroom/student#/sim_met and save (EX. cole88sim_met) Did you label your t-chart? Did you give 5 examples of each, similes and metaphors? Did you save your document? Metaphor and Simile 1.Review your task card completely. 2.Go to Voki website and create a character, www.voki.com.www.voki.com 3.After you have created your avatar then record it saying a metaphor and a simile. 4.Publish and share your Voki and paste into Mrs. Cole’s BB site discussion board/ metaphors and similes Voki. 5.View 2 other students Vokis and post the meaning to their metaphor and simile. 6.As you view the recording, complete the checklist below. Summary Checklist: ____ Did you post your Voki? ____ Did you view 2 other postings? ____ Did you respond and give the meanings to the posts you viewed? This task uses: Learning Objective(s): RL.5.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative language such as metaphors and similes. SL.5.5 Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, sound) and visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes.

Metaphor and Simile 1.Read and review your task card completely. 2.Open the “iMovie” app on the iPad. 3.Using your task card, create a movie of acting out and saying your metaphor and simile with your partner. 4.Be sure to save your recording when done. 5.Post your video to your homeroom class Twitter using the Twitter app. 6.Review at least two other posts/videos. 7.Log in to Blackboard, using the link on the home screen. Go to my Blackboard site and post a review of the videos you watched in the Twitter Discussion Board. Summary Checklist: ____ Did you act out and say both a metaphor and simile? ____ Did you upload your video to the class Twitter? ____Did you comment on at least two other posts/videos in Twitter Discussion Board ?
