2 This year’s showcase theme will focus on history, music, and dances of the past and present. Please note that we will update this packet by the 1 st of March

3 MARK YOUR CALENDAR (important dates!) We do not close for spring break. We will close on May 30 th for Memorial Day. April 29 th VOLUME LIVE SHOWCASE PREVIEW May 5 th, 2016 Advertising forms are due May 27 th, 2016 Picture Day at Volume 6-9 pm (picture times will be assigned once show script is finalized) May 31st-June 3rd 2016 (all days are mandatory for those who are in the showcase. You and your child may have to attend more than one day during dress rehearsal week). Dress rehearsal week May 31 st -1940 and 1950 6-8 pm June 1 st -1960 and 1970 6-8 pm June 2 nd -1980 and 1990 6-8 pm June 3 rd -2000’s 6-8 pm June 4 th, 2016 Dance Through the Decades Westfield High School All dancers report at noon/show time is 3 pm

4 Absences Dancers must attend 80% of dance classes to participate in the showcase. Please email (volumedance@yahoo.com) or call if your child is going to be absent or has to leave class early. If your child exceeds the number of absences and would like to participate in the showcase, a private lesson(s) should be scheduled with instructor before the dress rehearsal.

5 Class Courtesy and Observation Days If your child is late to class, please get them completely dressed and stop by the front desk before taking them to the classroom. PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE STUDIO DOOR WHILE CLASS IS IN SESSION. A MEMBER OF OUR STAFF WILL ESCORT YOUR CHILD INTO CLASS. A dress code is required for each class. If you have questions about the dress code, please visit the web for a detailed explanation of what your child should wear during class. Observation weeks February 29 th -March 5 th March 27 th -April 1 st April 24 th -30 th There will be no observations in May.

6 Important Costume Notes!!! Costumes have been ordered and will arrive by the end of April/early May. When costumes arrive, students will be asked to try them on for their teacher. If costumes do not fit, they will be shipped back and exchanged for the correct size. Once the costume has been taken home, it cannot be exchanged or returned. Shoes are not included in the costume fee and need to purchased as soon as possible. (please see class description for details). For an example of what the shoe looks like, stop by the desk or ask your teacher.

7 Picture Day!—MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Picture Day is Friday, May 27 th, 2016 at Volume Performance Center. Picture blocks will be assigned to each class. For your convenience, we will try to arrange pictures so your child will be present in one block of time. The photographer will be present to answer any questions you have.

8 SHOWCASE PREVIEW—MARK YOUR CALENDAR Volume Live! is our showcase preview. It will be held at Volume Performance Center. The cost is $5 for non members. There is no cost for Volume mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. Volume Live will be held April 29 th. This showcase is informal and we will not change costumes. What to wear to Volume Live!: Please purchase a pair of black jazz pants for your child. A shirt will be provided.
