18 IRSC DUAL ENROLLMENT Registration for Summer 1, Summer 2, and Fall 2016 opens on March 30 th. Registration ends May 6 th (Summer 1) June 27 th (Summer 2). Spring 2016 Textbooks are due by April 28 th. You may not DROP a class without speaking with Ms. Rains or Mrs. Hernandez once you have registered for your classes. The longer you wait to register, the later your books will arrive. –Book ordering will occur on the following days, so you must have your registration completed by those dates. 20 IRSC Creative Writing Contest  Contestants: Open to all SCPA students. Seniors will be eligible for an IRSC Scholarship ( Only those Seniors who plan to attend IRSC may enter). All other entries will be eligible for awards.  Categories: Each contestant will submit a sample of his/her writing on any subject in only one of the following categories: (1) Short Story or (1) One-Act Play or (1-3) Poems.  Format: All entries must be typed. All contestants must use a cover sheet listing: author’s name, grade level, teacher (Brasino), school name, and school phone number. Entries not conforming will not be considered for competition. Contestants are encouraged to make copies of work submitted. Only Award winners will be contacted.  Additional information: All entries must be turned in to Ms. Brasino on or before February 25.  Awards Ceremony: Thursday March 31, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at IRSC Main Campus, Brown Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Y-102)  Please see Ms. Brasino (104) if you have any additional questions.

22 National Honor Society SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER Calling all those who have what it takes Minimum criteria to apply include the following:  Sophomore standing  3.5 unweighted GPA WITH NO GRADE LOWER THAN A “C”  Have taken at least one honors course each year in high school  No referrals in high school  75 community service hours (completed and documented by administration by date of application deadline-March 15 th, 2015.)  Two letters of recommendation-one from teacher, preferably in honors level course and one from another source (work, church, community service, etc.)  APPLICATIONS will be available from Ms. O’Connor in room 114, beginning February 19, 2016.

26  Seniors and Juniors may leave campus for lunch only - with prior approval  Freshman or Sophomores are NOT allowed to leave campus for ANY reason!  The only exceptions are dual enrollment students going to IRSC campus.  Any student that leaves campus without permission will lose all privileges for the remainder of the school year.  Any student that allows an underclassmen in their vehicle without prior permission will lose all privileges for the remainder of the school year.

28 ATHLETIC BANQUET MARCH 16, 2016  The Athletic Department will host an awards banquet at the PSL Community Center that will be catered by the Silver Platter.  All athletes meals will be paid for by the Athletic Department  Guests may attend for $20/person.  Athletes/guests must RSVP by March 4 th and have paid for their guests that will be attending. See Federici ASAP!  Varsity letters and trophies will be handed out.  Volleyball, cheer and basketball players can see Federici with ?’s

33 Kaplan will be hosting free last-minute prep for the first administration of the new SAT® on March 5th and the ACT on April 9th. Their will be both, 60- and 90-minute online classes taught by expert Kaplan instructors. These sessions will give students: ● An overview of the test format, structure, and scoring ● Top Score-Raising Strategies ● A study schedule leading up to Test Day Free SAT and ACT Cram Sessions for the March 5th SAT and April 9th ACT will be hosted from February 27th-April 6th. Students can register at: www.kaptest.com/freecram. Once registered, students will also learn about our 12-hour nonstop, live training day to help them prep before the March 5th New SAT. The SAT Prep-athon will take place on Sunday, February 21st starting at 11AM ET.

38 VIRTUAL CLASS RULES If you fall behind or your grade drops below a “C” in your virtual class, you will be required to attend a lunch virtual lab for a full week. The consequence for skipping is a detention for every day you skip!!! If at the end of the week your grade is still below a “C” or you are still behind in your virtual course, you will be required to attend the lunch virtual lab the following week. If so please see Mrs. Hernandez or Miss Zirger in the main office.  What do you have to do?  You will touch base with your partner and see how they are adjusting to high school.  You will give them tips on how to get through classes.  You will assist in their transition from middle school to high school.  You will be a friendly/ welcoming face.  Junior participants will received volunteer hours.  Are you a Junior who is interested in mentoring an incoming 9 th grader next school year? YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO WORK ON HANDS ON ACTIVITIES AND WATCH FUN SIMULATIONS. WHEN: MARCH 29 TH, FROM 8:30 A.M.-12 NOON RSVP TO MRS. HERNANDEZ IN THE FRONT OFFICE BY FRIDAY!!
