2. Research question and relevance of the topic Research question: What is the importance of religion and beliefs of Ancient China in modern society? Relevance: Religion and beliefs have a profound impact on the modern society, because they can shape society and unite people. They may help people to make the society more stable with the following of teachings, religions. Religion and beliefs can influence on the culture of people, because culture is addicted from the religion.

3. Key terms: Buddhism is a moral philosophy / religion based upon the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama (566 - 486 B.C.). Taoism is one of the great religions / philosophies of Ancient China. Confucianism is an ethical and philosophical system based upon the teachings of the Chinese sage, Confucius. The Analects is a short collection of his discussions with disciples, compiled posthumously. These contain an overview of his teachings.

4. Confucianism Confucianism was developed by the Chinese philosopher Confucius, who lived from 551 to 478 BC. Confucius was born in Lu, Shantung Province, at the period of poverty and wars. 13. Reflection What is the importance of religion and beliefs of Ancient China in modern society? The importance of religion and beliefs of Ancient China is very big, because of the profound impact and innovations it brought to the societies. For example, In China, we can find many Confucius temples, which play a significant role for the candidates to pass an important exams. Also, governments of different countries strive to keep their people in order and in harmony, as in Taoism. Buddhism helps to support the culture of people by the giving advices and following the 4 noble truths.
