2. Red Scare 1917: socialists took control of Russia and created the first communist state. This scared people in the U.S. who thought that similar revolutions would occur at home and throughout the world.

3. This caused a “Red Scare” where the U.S. government went after anyone believed to be a socialist, communist, or anarchist. Thousands of people’s civil rights will be violated.

4. April 1920, Massachusetts: Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti are arrested for the murder of a factory paymaster and his guard.

5. They were both Italian immigrants and anarchists. The two of them are found guilty and executed despite very little evidence.
