Letters and other correspondence A letters says to the person who receives it that they are important to you. It shows that you care enough to get the stationary out, write it, and then go to the post office and send it. People write letters to thank, to express sympathy, to complain, or to praise. Some of the most treasured letters are letters of appreciation.

Common mistakes-your and you’re “Your” shows possession. “It’s your fault.” “It’s your prize.” “It’s your food.” “You’re” is a contraction for “You are.” “You’re going to have a great time!” “You’re going to regret eating that.” “You’re the best!” You’re really going to impress other people with your great grammar.

Their, there, and they’re There shows location. “There is where they found the buried treasure.” Their shows possession. “It is their buried treasure.” They’re is a contraction of ‘they are.’ “They’re going to be rich.” “They’re going to be rich when they take their buried treasure to that bank over there.”
