Standards BS8903 – A standard for Sustainable Procurement, which will provide guidance to the profession on how to adopt and measure their progress to ensuring that their procurement delivers not just the usual economic goals, but also social and economic objectives as well. Currently under development – linked to EMS ISO14001 – Eco-Management and Audit Scheme ISO 14020 Eco-labels – standard for eco-labels and declarations

Standards PAS 2050 a new standard launched by BSI British Standards, the Carbon Trust and Defra. The standard is a consistent way of counting the greenhouse gas emissions embedded in goods and services throughout their entire life cycle – from sourcing raw materials, through to manufacture, distribution, use and disposal. The Carbon Trust has already piloted PAS 2050 with 75 product ranges across a wide range of companies

WRAP Procurement Guidance WRAP provides guidance for the procurement process to help construction clients and contractors achieve good practice. South East Sustainable Procurement Project The Exemplar councils have reviewed selected product areas in conjunction with the CBC (Central Buying Consortium) to provide evidence of environmental impact reduction in a number of micro spend areas that could lead to "Quick Wins" across the SE Region. 5 product reviews have been completed for: Bio-diesel fuel Fair Trade tea & coffee Recycled paper & card stationery Long life light bulbs & tubes Hot air hand dryers v.recycled paper hand towels 4 councils across the SE Region - Lewes District Council, Crawley Borough Council, Woking Borough Council and Canterbury City Council - worked with the SP Project manager to achieve level 1 requirement for their Councils, and to show the other 70 councils in the Region how it could be done. Their work has led to the creation of a comprehensive Sustainable Procurement covering all the requirements for evidence of achieving level 1.

SMART SPP SMART SPP: innovation through sustainable procurement is a three year project designed to promote the introduction of new, innovative low carbon emission technologies and integrated solutions onto the European market.
