2 Range of Grant Award The total amount of money to be awarded is $383 million. The USED plans to award 15-25 grants. With approximately 7100 students, Henderson County Schools is eligible for a grant award of 10 to 20 million dollars. The grants are for four years, with all funds spent by September 30, 2018. Unlike most other grants, we may “supplant” with these funds. This means can use these funds to expand programs/activities the district is currently supporting with district funds. We can do more of the things that are working.

8 What is Happening Now? We have a steering committee of district personnel and three principals to guide the process. We have a writing team that is working with Nancy Satterfield to complete the grant application. The writing team is currently working on goals and activities in a logic model that includes costs of activities. Rich TenEyck of the ICLE has agreed to assist us in writing the grant. We must secure a grant evaluator. The grant application must be completed by October 5 th in order to get it in to the USED by the October 30 deadline. Grants will be awarded in December, 2012.

9 To complete the application process the grant must be reviewed by the KDE, read and signed by the mayor, and approved by 70% of the faculty.
