THE BACK BOARD Personal Poems written as a reflection, present view and glimpse forward in your students life. Created with learned grammatical concepts such as nouns, verbs, verb tense, adverb, articles, and adjectives as well as poetic concepts such as parallel structure, rhythm, stanza and meter. *located top two rows of back bulletin board

THE BACK BOARD Idiom posters, written with idioms but drawn with literal meaning for a sense of humor! *located third row of back bulletin board Paragraph houses: a graphic organizer showing the parts of a paragraph like Hook, Thesis, Supporting Details, and Conclusion. *located fourth row of back bulletin board

ABOVE THE ROOM Plot rollercoasters: students used the elements of diagraming the plot structure of their favorite narrative covered this year. Included concepts: Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution and conflict. (Pre-AP students created these with embedded quotes) *These are located above the bulletin board & labeled by the clock!

ABOVE THE ROOM Wanted posters for Alfred Noyes’ “The Highwayman” These posters were created with the concepts of Characteristics (words found directly in the text and given to the reader by the author) versus Character traits (where students used prediction and foreshadowing to infer one-word description) in regrades to the main character in the narrative poem “The Highwayman” *located above the door you entered

ON THE TABLES Writing Portfolios: A wonderful reference to prompt dissection and essay identification to take into 8 th grade and beyond. All items on the table are listed by period. Feel free to take these sample pieces home with you. Excellent work!

HANGING FROM THE CEILING Metaphor and Simile Posters Students enjoyed creating Metaphors and Similes with their teacher as the subject and I enjoyed reading them. You’ll get an insight to my serious caffeine addition!
