Purpose To provide the parents, stakeholders, and community members an overview of: *Demographics *Our Mission *Our Vision *Our Goals *Brief Academic Overview *Highlight Instructional Initiatives that are established to build academic excellence

Demographic Data The Wylam community is located in the western area of the city of Birmingham Wylam K-8 is located in an urban community surrounded by single dwelling family homes and a community park Due to Birmingham City School System participating in the National School Lunch Program, 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily Wylam K-8 serves approximately 400 students (Pre K- 8 th )

Mission Statement of Wylam K-8 To strive towards academic excellence by enhancing the minds of students through the use of a challenging curriculum that nurtures each student’s individual abilities, build partnerships between home, community, and school; and produce successful citizens who can thrive in a global society.

Vision Statement of Wylam K-8 To prepare responsible, confident and competent students who are engaged in learning and show proficiency within or beyond their grade level.

Wylam K-8 Goals Increase student achievement across grade levels by 3% Sustain the proficient population and reduce the non-proficient student population by 3% Increase proficiency in writing, reading, and math across grade levels by 3%
