This is only a part (or a fragment) of the whole. It can not function independently. It is dependent on independent clauses to function. DEPENDENT/SUBORDINATE CLAUSES (FRAGMENTS) This could contain 1 or 2 of the criteria for an independent clause, but it does NOT contain all of the criteria of an independent clause.
