2 Time Limit – 4 hours There is a high level of questioning. Every question will require problem solving skills. This is one reason our UPS check problem solving strategy is so important. It’s also important, for math, that students know multiplication facts. When: May 9, 2016 (Monday ) Math STAAR

4 Time Limit: 4 hours The STAAR Writing test will ONLY be one day of testing. The test will include 18 editing (12)/revising (6) questions, followed by writing a one-page expository composition. Expository – informative STAAR Writing When: March 29, 2016

5 Written compositions will be graded on a scale of 0 – 4. Grades will be based on the following: Conventions Presentation Development of Ideas Focus and Coherence Organization Voice Compositions must not be more than one-page long (26 lines). STAAR Writing Holistic Grading

6 Time limit: 4 hours Students will be expected not only to understand what they are reading but analyze and evaluate their understanding. Questions will be more implicit than explicit, meaning students will have to think and find clues and examples in the passage to answer the questions. The answers will not be directly stated in the passages. Paired passages will be on the test. This is where two stories are read and students will answer questions about both. The passages are usually related in topic or theme. STAAR Reading When: May 10, 2015
