An accreditation scheme for schools ▪Based on tried and tested programmes ▪Reduce car use on the school run ▪Increase children’s active travel, especially cycling ▪Accreditation for primary schools ▪Online accreditation system for schools ▪Bronze, Silver and Gold levels can be achieved based on activities carried out ▪Support from STARS Advisors ▪Peer-to-peer engagement for secondary schools ▪Youth Travel Ambassadors (YTAS) scheme ▪Student-organized activities, supported by STARS Advisors ▪STARS Cycle Challenge, online tool

An accreditation scheme for schools (2) ▪Involved schools (2015): ▪ Implemented in 71 primary schools… ▪… and 43 secondary schools in the 9 participating cities ▪First results are visible: ▪Average increase of 5,5% in active modes in primary schools since beginning of the project ▪Average increase of 6,5% in active mode travel in secondary schools
