2 Purpose Outline 1. How the city publicizes the arrests of those who sell spray paint to minors. 2. How the message is relayed to youth that the City will not tolerate graffiti. 3. How the city partners with those willing to help. 4. Methods we use to let taggers know that the city will not ignore graffiti and the damage it does to the city.

5 Paint Sting 70 Inspections Partnered with State Inspectors July 16, 2009 Sting 11 Locations 3 Arrests Health and Safety Code 485.032 A person commits an offense if the person knowingly delivers an abusable volatile chemical to a person who is younger than 18 years of age. An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor

6 Paint Sting Announcement Television News Telemundo City Channel Radio Newspaper Billboards FWPD Target Stores Selling Spray Paint To Minors FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― Reporting Katherine BlakeKatherine Blake Fort Worth Police are cracking down on one of the sources of the problem: stores that sell spray paint to minors. Any adult who provides spray paint to minors for illegal purposes could also be arrested.

18 Education Initiatives Update Comments from Program Staff The results are great!! The school restroom walls are clean of graffiti. - A.M. Pate Elementary Some students did not know that writing, etc on buildings was considered graffiti. This helped reinforce pride in the neighborhood. - Como Elementary Kids drew pictures of what parks and neighborhoods looked like with no graffiti and compared with pictures of how it was different from parks with graffiti. – De Zavala Elementary
