4  Initially ruled by an Etruscan King, but he was overthrown.  A Republic was set up, government officials were chosen by the people.  Soon, Rome became very powerful.

6  A Democracy has NO safeguards to protect the rights of the minority in a population.  A Republic has MANY safeguards to protect the rights of all individuals in a popluation

7  Since Rome was conquering lots of places there were getting lots of $$$.  Rome had become corrupt and were constantly having civil wars.  Then Octavian stepped in.
