The Spirit of the Proud Pride is the most insidious of sins. It is seldom recognized in oneself. “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3) “Do not be wise in your own opinion” (Romans 12:16b)

The Spirit of the Proud An Independent Spirit (James 4:13-16) Makes plans without consulting God Boasts of things not yet accomplished (1 Kings 20:11; Psalm 34:2; 44:8) “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
