Business Letter Format

Details Matter! Follow the standard business letter format Conventions (capitalization, spelling, punctuation, grammar) must be correct. Your writing must be clear and understandable You must have an introduction, body, and conclusion to your letter

Open a Google doc Go to “View” Click on show ruler Show spelling suggestions

Set the basic formatting: Times New Roman font Font size 12 Single spaced Type your return address

Next, you will type the Inside Address Note: - the blue arrows indicate when and how many times you press “enter” -after the date, press “enter” 4 times Return address 1 tab past center

Next: add the salutation

Now you will begin the body of the letter.

Be certain to indent the first line. At the end, hit enter once.

Again, be certain to indent your paragraph, and hit enter once when you are done.

After your final paragraph, you are ready for your complimentary closing.

Note: Your complimentary closing margin is again 1 tab past center. Then, hit enter 4 times. Complimentary closing

Signature blank Your letter is not official until you have signed your name (in cursive and in ink) in the signature blank
