New Flora of Sussex Current status Mar 2014
2
Where are we now? Progress in 2013 In March last year we asked you to concentrate on missing SPA and RPR species, and also to work on under-recorded habitats. (e.g. wetlands) Reduce the emphasis on numbers of species, and aiming to improve the quality of the data for each tetrad.
3
What did we achieve? For the record, we now have in excess of 407,000 records. This is an increase of c.9000 additional records across the County. This figure is a splendid effort and shows that the targeted recording is bringing results. So the quality of the data accumulated continues to improve. Enabling us to be able to provide a more accurate analysis of the changes that have taken place in the county’s flora, since 1966.

Please ensure all electronic records are sent to PAH by 01-11-2014 Please ensure all paper records/recording cards are sent to AGH by 01-11-2014 Please can all ‘Hectad Adopters’ send their annotated ‘search requirements’ document in 2014, updating the progress (positive and negative) of the targeted searches within their tetrads. (Annotations in bold italics please) to PAH by 01-12-2014. [Snail mail or e-mail] Now what?

Recording in 2014 Briefly: We will be continuing to record in 2014 It will be targeted, specific recording, and focusing on what is missing or has been overlooked. I will advise tetrad adopters of the areas, species, habitats and locations that need to be addressed in 2014.
7
Recording in 2014 We aim to inform you of the Hectad/Tetrads where specific work is required, by 10-03-2014. Work still to do in TQ10, 11, 21, 23, 31, 33, 42, 43, 60, 61, 62 & 63, 81, 92 & TR01 We will also issue a new hectad adopters sheet.

Thank you ALL The Flora Working Group really appreciates the commitment shown to the new Flora Project, by the whole membership. We are getting close to the end, and this final push will ensure that we will have completed the most comprehensive survey of the county of Sussex, ever undertaken. As we move towards publication, there may still be ‘mopping up’ to do next year, but 2014 will be the last full targeted recording season.
9
Thank you ALL The Flora Working Group would like to thank recorders who have indicated a willingness to travel outside their own area or hectad, in order to ensure that under-recorded areas are not omitted.
10
Thanks again for all you have done. Any questions?
