© CITY & GUILDS Funding - England only 2015/16 Funding protection for 18 years olds no longer exists No figures for 2015/16 have yet been released from the EFA 2010 spending review protection has also now ended Formula Protection Funding – introduced for 3 years from 2013/14 – update on process now available via link below.

© CITY & GUILDS Funding Maths and English- England only 2015/16 – learners achieving a ‘D’ grade GCSE MUST only take a GCSE. (no stepping stone product will be allowed) Condition of funding! Any student not progressing their English/Maths through a GCSE or stepping stone product in 2014, will not have funding allocated to them. Ie: student who does not meet the criteria 14/15 will have their allocation removed 16/17.

© CITY & GUILDS 19+ Funding - England only Qualifications to be funded for 19+ require a min 100 who have achieved the qualification in the previous year Spreadsheet shared 1 st February for centres to complete and return with achieved numbers and proposed numbers. Any qualifications not funded can be challenged but require written support confirming potential numbers from colleges. Award funding is not applicable.

© CITY & GUILDS Apprenticeship Funding - England only As of today – funding carries on for all apprentices Anticipate some changes to Level 3 and a new Level 4 apprenticeship from January 2016 in relation to the launch of the new apprenticeship standards.

SFA rules From November 2013 no funding for Level 1 qualifications that fall under 6 Credits for 19+ learners L2 and L3 nothing under 15 Credits will be funded All qualifications need letters of support from Employers, Trade/professional Associations All eligible qualifications have been submitted with recognition and purposes all have been accepted. Low/no take up – quarterly review. Any qualifications not reaching 100 learners (drawing down SFA funding) will be removed from the funding list. SFA - funding update

© CITY & GUILDS KS4 – Key Stage 4 applies to learners aged 14-16 in year 9,10,and 11 KS5 – Key Stage 5 applies to learners studying full time 16 – 19 TA – Technical Awards, applies to KS4 qualifications only 14-16 TC - Technical Certificate applies to level 2 qualifications which meet DFE requirements for full time learners aged 16-19 TLQ – Technical Level Qualifications applies to level 3 qualifications which met DFE requirements for full time learners aged 16-19 Performance measures – GCSE or A level equivalencies Techbac® - is NOT a qualification but a wrap around offer to support the technical qualification for post 16 learners studying a full time programme Get to know the new lingo!!!

Key Stage 5 – Post 16 – FAQ’s Q – Does this mean that Colleges can not use NVQs any longer for full time learners? A – No, they can still deliver NVQ’s, but NVQ’s will not have any Performance measures applied to them. Q – When will C&G vocational qualifications be measured on the Performance tables for GCSE equivalencies ? A –. Level 2 first teaching is September 2015 with points claimed in the performance tables in 2017, and will count towards GCSE’s. Q – When will C&G vocational qualifications be measured on the Performance tables for A level equivalencies ? A – Level 3 the first teaching is September 2014 with points claimed in the performance tables for 2016, and will count towards A level’s. 18

© CITY & GUILDS Ofsted report into POS 1.Too many learners starting at level 1? 2.What happens if they have ‘C’ grades? 3.Ofsted inspections – encouraging centres to start at level 2. 4.What is the future of 7100 level 1? Options: 1.Re-level 7100 to be level 2,3 and 4 2.Re-level 7100 level 1 to be level 2 3.Make existing 7100 level 2 to be level 3, and extend to have a 2 year programme at level 3. ie: Diploma and then Extended Diploma. 4.Make existing level 3 to be level 4, for any learners wishing to undertake this later on.

Might you get learners only when they are 17? 3.Opportunity to link qualifications and synoptic tests to new apprenticeship standards. 4.Is a 3 year programme correct and with a 2 year level 3? 5.FYI – City & Guilds will have an offer at level 1.
