It’s Science Fair Time! Today we are going to discuss the upcoming science fair at James Martin Middle School

Science Fair Details….. It’s time for our annual science fair project. You are being given several weeks to complete this project so I expect a lot of effort and great projects. It will also be worth 200 points of your grade! It is your responsibility to complete the project on time.

Calendar Details… I will keep these dates very visible around the room, but in the end it is your responsibility to be sure you are following your calendar and preparing for the due dates below. I am here to help! BUT do not ask for help the day something is due.

Science Fair Timeline November 25 th Receive information packet on science fair December 4 th Three possible project ideas due to Mrs. Maas to read and review December 6 th Approved ideas returned to students December 9 th Final idea and hypothesis due December 16 th Project plan due December 20 th Background research due January 10 th FAIR PROJECT DUE!! This is the day you bring in your board and your abstract January 22 nd James Martin Middle School Science Fair January 24 th Finalized abstract, project plan, and parental permission forms due (if applicable for team finalists)

Project Plan Requirements Your “project plan” is a one page paper which explains your project. In your project plan you include your problem, hypothesis and procedure. Be sure you are detailed in your responses and professional in your language.

Tri-fold Board Requirements These boards sell out fast this time of year! Give yourself time to get one. If you run out on January 9 th I guarantee there will be none left in the stores.

Abstract Requirements Your abstract is a short summary written at the end of your project which includes: – the purpose of your project – a summary of your procedure, data/observations, conclusions and results – Any future research plans on this project – What, if any, research needs to be retested and why
