Mission Statement The mission of the Sacramento Zoological Society is to inspire appreciation, understanding and respect for all living things through stimulating education, wholesome recreation and innovative species management. The Sacramento Zoological Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Sponsorships and grants fund education, animal care and conservation programs.

8. The ZooMobile The ZooMobile provides a one-of a kind educational service to children throughout the Sacramento region. While thousands of students visit the Zoo each year on field trips, there are many schools who cannot afford these educational outings. The ZooMobile brings the Zoo to them. Exposing young people to nature and conservation has significant implications on how they will view the world as adults.

9. Zoo Visitors Nearly a half million people visit the Sacramento Zoo each year; 49% are children from a 24-county region of Northern California and 46% live in Sacramento County. There are10,000 Sacramento Zoological Society member households in the greater Sacramento area (more than 46,000 individuals). These members have a strong loyalty to the Zoo and its mission, and visit an average of six times each year. More people visit zoos & aquariums annually than attend major league football, baseball, basketball and hockey combined – more than 175 million visitors.
