4 www.hastings.gov.uk Code of Conduct You need to: Understand personal and pecuniary interests –More detail in session on Monday 2 nd June Supply (within 28 days) your register of interests to Lisa Greathead (1722) and then updates as necessary Advice from Chris or Jane

5 www.hastings.gov.uk Code of Conduct CoC states you must: Treat others with respect Register gifts and hospitality, received in your role as member, worth more than £50 Observe Officer/Member Protocol: Be aware that Officers and Members have distinct roles Officers work to the instructions of their senior officers not individual Members Breaches of the Protocol can result in a Standards hearing

6 www.hastings.gov.uk Code of Conduct You must avoid: Bringing your authority or office into disrepute Using the authority’s resources for party political purposes Compromising the impartiality of your authority employees Discriminating on equalities grounds Bullying or attempting to intimidate others
