2.  Setting: in a school in Fresno, California  Characters:  Victor  Michael  Teresa  Mr. Bueller  Mr. Lucas

3.  Protagonist: Victor  Antagonist: his need/desire to impress Teresa  MAJOR CONFLICT: Victor wants to win over or impress Teresa

4.  Victor and Michael talk about their summers and also how to impress girls (by scowling).  Victor thinks about and tries to see Teresa throughout the entire day.  In French class, Mr. Bueller asks if anyone knows French.

5.  Victor says he knows French and tries to bluff his way through a dialogue with Mr. Bueller.

6.  Mr. Bueller doesn’t call Victor on his bluff; he lets the class think Victor knows what he’s saying. He does this because he remembers when he tried to impress a girl when he was Victor’s age.

7.  After class, Teresa compliments Victor’s French and asks him to help her with her own French. Victor decides it’s going to be a wonderful year.
