Deserts? Introduction Deserts occur when the annual rainfall is less than about 25 centimeters (10 inches), though some deserts are colder and drier than others. Generally deserts are thought to be hot and sandy, but deserts can be cold too. A region that has an arid climate with little water, and generally is unable to support life.

So, what lives in the Desert? There are few humans and animals that live in desert climates. In hot deserts… In cold deserts… However, humans and technology have been used to change conditions in deserts to be more suitable for living.
