1. Treaty of Versailles Leaders wanted to ensure Germany stayed weak, and never wage another devastating war. Germans were humiliated by this decision

2. Economic Problems: Inflation To finance the war, Germany borrowed huge sums of money. The gov’t began producing more and more money. The rapid printing of currency was not supported by real economic value.

THE NUREMBERG LAWS: 1935 These laws took away the citizenship and civil rights of all Jews in Germany. They could not: go to public schools, own land, associate with anyone who was a non Jew. Banned from all government jobs, teaching, banking, etc.

The Autobahn Although started in 1929 It served wonderfully for propaganda purposes as construction enabled him to fulfill his promise of reducing Germany's unemployment levels.
