3. Fractions Let’s look at this problem a different way. Try to simplify before you multiply or cross cancel. Look at the numbers in the denominator and numerator; is there a number they have in common? If so, take it out before you multiply. Only do this at the multiplication step!!!

5. Fractions In order to add or subtract, the fractions must have a common denominator. This is the LCD. Multiply the numerator by the same thing that you multiplied the denominator by.
