Fractions This is the easiest operation! 1. Multiply the numerators. 2. Multiply the denominators. 3. Simplify if necessary.

Fractions Let’s look at this problem a different way. Try to simplify before you multiply or cross cancel. Look at the numbers in the denominator and numerator; is there a number they have in common? If so, take it out before you multiply. Only do this at the multiplication step!!!

Fractions 1.Keep it. 2.Change it. 3.Flip it. Cross Cancel if you can!!!

Fractions In order to add or subtract, the fractions must have a common denominator. This is the LCD. Multiply the numerator by the same thing that you multiplied the denominator by.

Fractions What is the LCD? What do you have to multiply the 5 by? The 12? What is the LCD? What do you multiple the 1 by? The 8?
