3 3 Key Operations Initiatives Draft VDOT FY16 Business Plan released, includes seven items for Operations: Develop an integrated, multi-modal approach to improve travel time Develop engineering plans to improve traffic flow in key corridors Apply and evaluate advanced traffic signalization technologies Measure the before-and-after results of safety improvement projects Develop a statewide connected vehicle program plan Target the improvement of traffic safety features on accident- prone corridors Monitor the implementation of the SHRP 2 training program

4 4 Key Operations Initiatives, cont. VDOT 2016 Road & Bridge Specifications open for industry comment through Sept 12, 2015 Includes new section for ITS (Division VIII) Contact Scott Silva to coordinate comments Conducting table top exercises for VDOT’s tunnels, will evolve to conducting drills

5 5 Pursuing Alternate Funding Opportunities Awarded East/West Corridor ICM planning grant to develop CONOPs and Implementation Plan for Northern Virginia Applied for TIGER grant to provide corridor improvements in and around the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Submitted proposal for FHWA’s Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program in partnership with VTTI and VCTIR

6 6 Operations Strategic Plan VDOT’s Operations Program is in need of an updated strategic plan Will address emerging trends such as Connected Vehicles, Multi-modalism, Transportation Demand Management, Social Media and Changing Demographics VDOT, in partnership with ITSVA, plans to host a workshop this Fall where all interested members are invited to provide input Look for email announcement from ITSVA in the coming weeks Effort will be led by Paul Szatkowski and Kevin Barron, Iteris

7 Current & Upcoming Contracting Opportunities ContractStatus Central Region – Fiber and ITS Device installation on I- 95 from Lombardy St. to I- 295 Advertisement scheduled for April 2016 Northwest Region – Adaptive Signal System & Communications maintenance Advertisement scheduled for late August Northwest Region – Build/modify traffic signals Advertisement scheduled for September Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) RFP #152869 Mandatory pre-proposal conference July 21, 2015. 7
